The following services, guidelines, and resource links are available specifically for the residents of City of Petersburg.

Set Out Time: 7:00 AM

Garbage Pickup

Container: 95-gallon cart provided by Meridian Waste

Quantity: 1 (one) cart. Up to two (2) additional carts can be requested.

Frequency: Once per week. (See below map for Collection Day By Area)

Materials Accepted: Non-hazardous municipal waste, no construction material

All loose waste must be bagged prior to placement in the cart to prevent spillage and littering

Yard Waste Pickup

Frequency: Once per week from the curb

Materials Accepted:

Properly prepared yard waste includes vegetative items no longer that 4’ in length, 18” in diameter and weigh no more than 50 lbs.
All leaves and small debris must be bagged or containerized.
Limbs meeting the size restrictions must be neatly stacked and/or tied.
No tree trunks or stumps shall be collected. The quantity of Yard Waste (even when mixed with Bulky Waste) shall not exceed the quantity that could safely be transported in the bed of a truck (approximately 5 cubic yards).
No commercially produced yard waste generated by a professional for hire contractor shall be collected.

Bulk Waste Pickup

Frequency: Once per week from the curb

Materials Accepted: Couches and large chairs, and other such large household items.

Weight Limits: No item shall exceed weight that can be safely lifted and disposed of by two (2) individuals, or be of a size that cannot be loaded into the Meridian Waste truck. Item type and size should be discussed during scheduling.

Bulk waste does not include any construction or demolition. All collection should be scheduled in advance by contacting Meridian Waste by calling 804-748-8324.

How to Place Carts Curbside

Close cart lid, point handle away from street, place on edge of street. Keep cart 3 feet away from all objects.
