MERIDIAN WASTE DELIVERS THE SPIRIT OF THANKSGIVING FOR THE

THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

- Annual Gifting of the Turkeys for Neighbors of Meridian Waste Landfills -

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 21, 2022) – Meridian Waste, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, has kicked off the Thanksgiving festivities through its annual Gifting of the Turkeys community initiative. Neighbors who live adjacent to the company's landfills will receive free holiday food provisions throughout the organization's operational footprint.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, turkey pick up began on Thursday, November 17, at Meridian Waste’s Eagle Ridge Landfill in Bowling Green, Mo., with local management hosting tours of the newly built and open disposal cells. Twenty-five neighbors picked up their turkeys and learned how landfills are designed, built and operated to protect the natural environment. The remaining Eagle Ridge Landfill turkeys and turkeys from the company’s other three landfills were delivered during the weekend by team members to local residents. This is the third year for the company-wide philanthropic program which began in Meridian Waste’s Missouri market in 2019. Meridian Waste team members are providing turkeys in the following locations:

  • Eagle Ridge Landfill, Bowling Green, Mo.

  • Shotwell Construction and Demolition Landfill, Wendell, N.C.

  • Riverside Construction and Demolition Landfill, Knoxville, Tenn.

  • Lunenburg Landfill, Lunenburg, Va.

Gifting of the Turkeys is our way of saying thank you to residents for their commitment to a clean and healthy environment. We also extend great appreciation to our facilities’ host communities for their support of the vital disposal services we provide throughout the year,” said CEO Walter “Wally” Hall.

In the four U.S. states which serve as home to Meridian Waste landfills, more than 100 packaged turkeys, ready for cooking were delivered to neighbors while equaling more than 1,400 lbs. of the holiday favorite. Recipients received a postcard in November about the gifts of turkeys for planning holiday meals. For more information about Meridian Waste, visit the website at MeridianWaste.com.
