Meridian Waste’s Lunenburg Landfill hosts more than 300 community members at Third Annual Fall Fun Fest
Lunenburg, V.A. – (October 30, 2023) Meridian Waste Virginia LLC, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, welcomed more than 300 community members including elected officials, County staff, neighbors, students, and families to the Third Annual Fall Fun Fest on Saturday, October 28. Participation more than doubled from last year’s event due to positive word-of-mouth reviews from previous festivities and the warm fall day. Activities at the landfill included Meridian Waste’s signature Truck-or-Treating among big earth moving equipment used for disposal operations, an inflatable obstacle course, bounce house, face painting, pumpkin painting, and corn hole. More than 100 guests enjoyed hayride tours to learn how the disposal facility benefits the citizens of Lunenburg County and how the landfill is designed and operated to protect and preserve natural resources.
“Meridian Waste is very proud of the investment we have made into this once County-owned facility,” said General Manager Joe Gustaf. “We have worked tirelessly to upgrade the landfill to meet and exceed all environmental compliance requirements and to offer a long-term disposal site for the County and surrounding communities,” he said. “The landfill is a place where we’re pleased to host events such as the Fall Fun Fest while inviting the community to visit, and for neighbors to meet each other in the great outdoors. The fact that the festival coincides with Halloween adds an extra layer of fun with the children’s costumes and Truck-or-Treating activity.”
