Garbage Men & Women Doing Good in the Community
Here you will find a selection of our stories from the communities we serve and the environmental heroes who are part of the Meridian Waste team.
Well, it appears drone technology isn’t just for the military! Meridian Waste’s Noble Hill Landfill recently completed the temporary closure of one of its disposal cells. Per the facility’s Alabama Dept. Of Environmental Quality (ADEM) permit requirements, the company is required to seed the fresh dirt with grass. Instead of using heavy equipment and human labor, advancements in technology have created drone seed feeders dropping fresh grass seed & fertilizer from the air onto the slopes with no disturbance of the dirt or harm to the integrity of the slope.
This creates a win-win solution for all resulting in a higher quality seeding program. We can grass 50% faster than previous processes representing a significant savings in financial investment.
Meridian Waste will continue to research and implement new technologies resulting in a cleaner, healthier environment.
