Springfest Welcomes More Than 190 Guests to Eagle Ridge Landfill

Bowling Green, MO – May 24, 2024:  Meridian Waste Acquisitions, LLC, a non-hazardous, integrated solid waste services company, proudly hosted more than 190 guests at its Eagle Ridge Landfill during  Springfest held on May 18. Springfest’s purpose is to provide a family-friendly environment to allow neighbors and community members to visit the disposal facility, learn how waste is properly managed to protect the natural environment, and have fun. The event featured carnival-like inflatables, activities, Meridian Waste’s signature Touch-A-Truck yard, and a free grilled lunch followed by refreshing frozen treats.  The Bubble Bus, sponsored by Meridian Waste’s clean energy partner, Vision RNG, was especially popular with children of all ages.

“Bringing our neighbors to see what we do daily to protect and care for the environment is a high priority for Meridian Waste. Our team at Eagle Ridge Landfill created an incredibly inviting and fun day for our guests to better understand the need for the area’s vital infrastructure asset,” said Meridian Waste’s Gregg Asciutto, Area President in Missouri.

Additional Springfest activities included face painting, balloon twisting, corn hole, temporary tattoo station,  flowerpot decorating, and a planting craft booth. The winner of the raffle drawing for a new gas grill was Stacey Barlow.

Eagle Ridge landfill is a Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) permitted municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill located at 13100 Highway VV in Bowling Green, MO servicing the disposal needs of Central East Missouri.  The facility has an active clean energy system which collects methane gases created when organic waste breaks down or decomposes within a MSW landfill.  Methane gas is pulled from the landfill and diverted to an on-site facility for the conversion of the gas to energy while preventing it from escaping into the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas.  The treated landfill gas is piped offsite to supplement or replace natural gas usage in the form of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). The conversion of landfill gas to energy is an effective means of recycling and reusing the valuable resource.  Meridian Waste’s partners in its clean energy project include Vision RNG and U.S. Energy.
